Overview

Children are provided free nutritionally balanced breakfasts, lunches, & snacks daily. We believe nutritious meals are essential for learning.

Our Food Program supports vulnerable children throughout the school year during out-of-school hours and all day during the summer months when they do not have access to the free or reduced-price lunch program at their schools. The Food Program provides reliable, healthy, and balanced meals to those who need it most.

Children learn to make healthy food choices and develop eating habits that will last a lifetime. In our commercial-sized kitchen, our chefs create nutritious meals that contain the five food groups:

  • Fresh fruit
  • Fresh, crunchy vegetables
  • Fat-free or 1% low-fat milk. For children who cannot tolerate milk products, appropriate alternatives like calcium-fortified soy or rice drink or soy yogurt can be offered.
  • A meat or meat alternative food like some lean meat (e.g. chicken strips), hard-boiled egg, yogurt, cheese, or peanut butter.
  • Whole grain or cereal food like bread, a roll, or crackers
